Harry Potter and You

Just a reminder that we will be meeting this Saturday at 5:00 p.m. We will go out to eat (your responsibility) and will try to see the movie around 7:00 p.m. (youth group's responsibility) I am hoping to return to Trinity around 9:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Rock Climbing

High School Youth are invited to attend an afternoon of Rock Climbing at Verticle Endeavors in Winfield. We will leave following the 11:00 a.m. worship service and will return in time for the Parent's meeting. You will need to cover the cost of your lunch. The Youth Group will pay for the Rock Climbing. Open Youth Room Schedule

The following dates have been set aside as Open Youth Room nights:
September 25
October 9 and 23
November 13 and 27
December 11

We will be planning upcoming events as well as play games and have a devotion.
On October 9 we will include the parents so that we can discuss both the Pumpkin Patch and the Hallow Him Fest.
We will begin at 6:30 p.m. and conclude by 8:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served at all Open Youth Rooms.

Ski Retreat

Plans have been made for the winter retreat.
A number of changes have been put into place including lodging at Kalahari, skiing and tubing at Cascade Mountain, and a quality Bible Study leader.
Dates for this event are January 13-15, 2006 (No school on January 16).
Cost for this event is $100. A $50 deposit is due by November 20. The balance will be due on January 8.
There is a sign-up sheet in the Youth Room. Friends are welcome to attend (one per person, same gender).
A special sheet for this event is enclosed with the newsletter.

"Voice of Truth" Youth Gathering

This is an opportunity for you to gather together with other youth in our district for a weekend of fellowship, learning and growing.
The date for this event is November 4-6. It will be held at Hickory Ridge Conference Center in Lisle. The cost for the weekend will be $75.
This weekend will be filled with opportunities to grow in our faith, share the gifts God has given us in service to others, for learning, for worship and for fun.

Part of the Saturday evening festivities will include a talent show. So, bring your instruments, twirl baton, or dance shoes and practice up before you arrive.
Registration notice needs to be made to Rob by September 11. After that date the cost goes up to $100. There is a sign-up sheet in the Youth Room or you can leave a message with Rob at 708-839-1200 ext. 5

Bowling and Lunch

Our first social event of the school year will be a bowling outing on Sunday, September 18.
We will gather in the Youth Room following the 11:00 worship service.
Lunch will be at Fuddruckers’ in Downers Grove followed by two games of bowling at Brunswick Bowling Alley in Woodridge.
Cost for this outing will be the cost of your lunch. The Youth Group will pick up the cost of the bowling.
Friends are welcome to this event. Please sign the sheet in the Youth Room so that we can figure out transportation.

See You At The Pole

Many Christian students will assemble at their flagpole before school begins on Wednesday, September 21.
What they will be doing there might be different or something you might not expect on a public school campus.
Prayers will be lifted up for friends, family, communities, our nation and our world.
You are encouraged to attend this special event that has been happening for fifteen years.
Listen to your school announcements or look for posters on the wall announcing start time and location.
Plan on making a difference in your high school this year.

Crossing Ski Retreat

This years Winter Ski Retreat is scheduled for January 13-15. Lodging will be at the Kalahari Resort with skiing being held at Cascade Mountain.

Kalahari offers the only indoor Flowrider in the USA. There are activity pools, 5 whirlpools, a Lazy Torrent River, water slides, an indoor wave pool, and the Animal Kingdom.

Cascade offers 34 trails, 10 lifts, snowtubing, and night skiing.

Cost for the weekend will be $100 which will include all resort activities, skiing, food and transportation.

Northern Illinois District Youth Gathering

This is an opportunity for high school youth in the Northern Illinois District to gather together for a weekend of fellowship, learning and growing. This weekend will be filled with opportunities to grow in our faith, share the gifts God has given us in service to others, for learning, for worship and for fun.
The weekend will include Bible Study, singing, a talent show and servant event.

Cost for the weekend (all inclusive) is $75 by September 15 or $100 after September 15. Look for information in a mailing.

Construction Zone

“Construction Zone” is a weekend designated to deepen your faith and grow in your walk with Jesus, learning what it means to be his disciples. Being a disciple is about understanding who God wants to be in our lives, who God has created us to be as members of the body of Christ, the value God gives us, the gifts we have, and learning how to listen to the call of God in our lives. These topics will be explored in depth throughout the weekend.
“Construction Zone” will feature speaker Bob Lenz and musical groups Fusebox and Smallville (formally known as the Poolboys).
This conference will be held April 1-3 in Minneapolis. There is a chance that we will head out early on March 31 so that we can do some looking around the Twin Cities.
The conference is a great time to grow in your daily walk with Jesus.
Friends who are committed to Christ and are wanting to grow in their faith are invited.

Ski Day

Since we were not able to ski on the ski retreat, we will make it up on Saturday, February 12.
We will go back to Alpine Valley leaving church at 7:00 a.m. and returning around 8:00 p.m.
The cost for the day will be $45 and will cover your lift ticket, rentals, and a lesson if you need one.
If you are planning on going on this trip please call me so that I can get you the needed information.
Friends are invited to attend and drivers are needed.

Circus

The High School group will be heading to the circus on Sunday, November 29. We will meet at Trinity at 3:45 p.m. and should return around 8:00 p.m. This is during your Thanksgiving break. Cost for the evening will be $15.00 A sign up sheetis in the youth Room.

Handicamp

High Schoolers,

It's time to sign up for the trip to Walcamp to work with some of the handicapped individuals in the Northern Illinois District. The weekend event is December 3-5. If you need more information go to Walcamp's website or come and see me. You need to register very soon.

The Circus

The High School Youth Group will heading out to the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus the weekend after Thanksgiving. We will set the date at the meeting on November 14. Check your calendar to see your schedule for that weekend.

A sign up sheet will be in the Youth Room. The cost should not exceed $15.
